Safety and Gun Violence
The issue of gun violence prevention, and awareness is not a debate. Columbus, Ohio is facing a gun violence epidemic. District 3 in Franklin county is home to North Linden, South Linden and Clintonville. It has been reported that Linden has become Columbus’ most deadly neighborhood.
I will fight for bold, tougher gun-safety policy change, and to stop protections for corporate gun manufacturers. This is required for civilian protection. I will take action to end gun violence and mass shootings across the country.
Increasingly as more and more of our citizens enter poverty and survival mode financially, gun violence and crimes are getting worse and more frequent. Besides tougher gun safety laws, we know fundamentally, when we have a healthy and sustainable economy and basic human needs are met, we will have safer communities. We see that excessive policing in this area is not yielding lower gun violence or crime rates. Fixing our economy and making sure our citizen’s needs are properly met, is not an option, it decreases neighborhood violence and gun violence drastically.
Educating our citizens through a bachelors degree and creating a guaranteed job system, decreases violence drastically. We know these correlations and data for community stability and safety. It is time to prioritize and responsibly implement this overwhelming data to protect our children, our families and our community.
